STANDARD PROPELLERS

FH 30

The narrow bladed FH 30 is designed to be used for sailing boats. As the blade width is only 35 % of the diameter, it offers minimum drag when locked in the vertical position while sailing.

Because of the reduced blade area, it is desirable to increase the diameter by 1″ or 2″ over the conventional 3 bladed propeller.

FH 50

3 bladed propeller, typically used for slow cruisers. Low consumption of fuel and high efficiency for speed up to 14 knots.

Good manoeuvrability. Anti-singing edge which runs in silence at low revolutions. The best speed / cost ratio.

Used extensively for moderate powered craft when cavitation is not a factor.

FH 55

3 bladed propeller for cruiser. The best propeller for light boats up to 6 tons. Ideal for power range 20 to 300 horse power for petrol and diesel.

Gives good performance and excellent top speeds when adapted to boat.

FH 65

This 4 bladed propeller can be used on medium to heavy boats up to 15 knots boat application.

Probably the best price / efficiency ratio on the market. It offers a large range of power application in trawlers, light fishing boats or slow cruising boats. Easy to repair.

FH 75

This 4 bladed propeller was specially designed for boats requiring silence and to reduce vibrations. FH 75 is the most used standard propeller in european boat yards.

To be used when 3 blades do not match vibration requirements or when diameter is limited.

Very good acceleration and mid range speed.

FH 80

This propeller is particularly well-adapted to fast boats where performance is a must. The excellent thrust of this propeller is due to the efficiency wich can reach up to 75,3%.

Cavitation criterior to be checked prior to selecting this propeller.

The disadvantage being that it could increase vibrations in the case of large propeller diameter.

CLASS ”S” PROPELLERS

FH 4 95

An extensive research in cavitation tunnel has been carried out in the design phase of this propeller, to avoid noise and vibration.

Cavitation levels and performance at cruising and hump conditions are greatly improved.

FH 5 105

This four blade propeller is used by most of the major shipyards for superyachts applications able to achieve speed above 30 Knots.

The blade shape and design is calculated to match the specific requirement of propellers working in tunnels.

FH 4 125

This propeller has been developed to give minimum vibrations on heavy fast boats.

Tested with success on american’s fast “sportfisherman”, it became a new line in the year 1989. No noise or vibration. Also used when tunnels are needed to work in shallow water. Smoothness guarantee.

SURFACE CLASS ”S” PROPELLERS

FH 4 SPP

Application : SDS, ARNESON DRIVE, LEVY DRIVE, TRIMAX, … fixed or trimables surface drives.

This model of propeller was developed to answer certain technical constraints on ships with high speed.

Warning : this propeller can be used only in surface drive application such as : SDS, ARNESON DRIVE, LEVY DRIVE, TRIMAX. When a heavy boat requires thrust for speed up to 50 knots, FH 4a gives the best cost / efficiency performance ratio.

FH 5 SPP

Application : SDS, ARNESON DRIVE, LEVY DRIVE, TRIMAX fixed or trimables surface drives.

When harmonics can develop critic frequency, FH 5 SSP is smooth and an efficient solution. Can be used for application up to a speed of 70 knots.

FH 6 SPP

Application : SDS, ARNESON DRIVE, LEVY DRIVE, TRIMAX fixed or trimables surface drives.

When harmonics can develop critic frequency, FH 6 SSP is smooth and efficient .

SPECIAL PROPELLERS

FH MC 50

This propeller has a very special blade shape. It solves the transition problem when passing from subcaviting to supercaviting with difficulties (for example, stepped hull with air injection). The range of application is over 40 knots when heavyload variation is small. To be used only for hull less than 35′.

FH Z 60

The concept of this blade shape is closed to the FH MC 50 but the FHZ 60 can be used in surface piercing application.

The four blade gives smooth operation with an excellent feeling of power.

The speed range is from 20 to 60 knots. Acceptable for hulls up to 50′ less than 20 000 lbs.

SILENT PROPELLERS

FH 3 SSB

This propeller has been developed for displacement hull with low power. The limited interaction between hull and propeller gives this propeller a natural application for large cruising sailing yachts. The blade comes directly from the experience of tuna seiner fishing boats where low noise and vibration are a real concern. The small blade ratio limits drag.

FH 4 SSB

This is the Fisherman’s propeller. Excellent for monohull where propeller is located behind the keel.
No bubbles, no vibrations, silence ! Ideal for trawling. The performance of this propeller is equivalent to larger blade area ratio.

FH 5 SSB

Hull with tunnels, limited diameter, large keels need FH5 SSB. Solves a lot of application problems.
Repowering with higher horsepower are solved by using FH5 SSB. Probably the most silent propeller available on the market today.

FH 5 BN

Developed from submarine technology, FH5 BN is one of the most silent propeller standard available on the marcket.
Suitable for cruisers, FH 5 BN can also be used for less than 20 knots fishing boats when no vibrations and low noise are required.
An european princess is using these propellers on her boat :
the deal was to let princess sleep in the rear cabin even while cruising …

KAPLAN PROPELLERS

This serie is currently matched with a nozzle to increase thrust, used for fishing boats or tug boats. Other applications are :

– Bow thrusters.
– Directional thrusters.
– Special applications.

These propellers are also available in 3, 5, 6 or more blades to cover any particular needs. Castings are made of steel, stainless steel, bronze aluminium, aluminium, iron or bronze manganese to cover any type of applications. Symmetrical blades give the same thrust in both rotation directions. Clockwise or anti-clockwise.

RDL 4K has been used extensively with great success. Thrust is easily increased by 20% in conjunction with nozzle. This propeller is “a way to save fuel”. Excellent for fishing boats or Tugs boats and up to 14 knots speed which perform more than 2 000 hours per year.

FOLDING PROPELLERS

The SAIL PROP is manufactured so that the torque of the preadjusted pitch position. The propeller hub and the shaft are connected by level gearing which guarantees the synchronized turning of the blades. A stop inside the propeller hub regulates the pitch position of the propeller.
However, the moment when the engine is disengaged, the SAIL PROP automatically goes into sailing / feathering position. This produces a lower drag on the propeller thus increasing speed and manoeuvrability of the boat.
If the pitch position requires a different ratio from forward and reverse, a simple adjustment of the inner stop is possible.
